Jalen Hurts — 2026 Fantasy Outlook

Shawn's rank: QB11NFFC ADP 105Bye 10Updated July 30, 2026

Analysis by Shawn Childs, from his 2026 guide — his words, unedited.

The case

  • · Hurts comes off a career high in passing touchdowns (25), but lost momentum as a ball carrier (105/421), especially scoring touchdowns (8 – 10, 13, 15, and 14 over his previous four years).
  • · Was his decline on the ground tied to a gimmicky offensive coordinator who scripted in close plays for Dallas Goedert (11 receiving touchdowns – career high by six scores?
  • · New offensive coordinator Sean Mannion comes from Green Bay. He leaned on Josh Jacobs over the past two seasons, which should be a hint of a rebound season for Saquon Barkley and the Eagles’ run game.
  • · Mannion also liked to throw the downfield.
  • · Philadelphia upped their tight depth by drafting Eli Stowers in the second round.

Question marks

  • · Can DeVonta Smith make a push to a top 12 wide receiver after the Eagles moved on from AJ Brown?
  • · How quickly can Makai Lemon catch up to NFL speed at Philadelphia’s WR2 position?
  • · Is the combination of Dontayvion Wicks, Hollywood Brown, and Elijah Moore worthy of commanding significant targets?

Shawn's conclusion

Over the past three seasons, Hurts ranked third (446.40), ninth (385.15), and ninth (385.30) in NFFC fantasy points while missing three games over this span. The problem with the Eagles’ starting quarterback is that he wants to protect the ball by running when a play breaks down, which shuts down the chance at a big passing completion. Ultimately, a drafter has to believe in his receiving corps to fight for him in fantasy leagues. His resume supports a bounce-back year, highlighted by more scoring and rushing chances.

More on Hurts

Hurts set new personal bests in completions (352), attempts (538), passing yards (3,858), passing touchdowns (23), and rushing scores (15) in 2023 while appearing in all 17 games for the first time. His ground game efficiency continued to erode (yards per carry slipped to 3.9 – 4.6 in 2022 and 5.6 in 2021). Still, he averaged 9.8 rushing attempts over his last 48 starts, keeping him relevant as a fantasy runner.

Hurts landed second in quarterback scoring (415.40) in four-point formats, but his ceiling moments were rare, with only three elite scoring outputs (31.35, 31.55, and 38.50). From Week 11 through the first round of the playoffs, he threw for one or fewer touchdowns in seven games, including a Week 18 appearance where Philadelphia had him on the field for just 43% of their offensive snaps.

Philadelphia's shift toward a run-heavy identity in 2024 took a real toll on Hurts' fantasy standing, dropping him to ninth among quarterbacks in four-point formats (354.15 fantasy points). He missed two full games, made an early exit in Week 16 after just 12 plays, and never threw more than two touchdown passes in a single outing. The ground game remained a constant (150 carries for 630 yards and 14 scores), and he posted a career-best 69.2% completion rate with only six interceptions and 8.0 yards per attempt.

His passing volume was strikingly low: just 448 attempts across 18 full games, barely 24.9 per outing. After Week 4, the Eagles exceeded 25 pass attempts in only three games with Hurts at the helm, which diluted the production available to his receivers and kept his ceiling firmly in check most weeks.

The regression narrative that followed him through the fantasy market, though, wasn't the full picture. After Week 6, Hurts cleared 30.00 fantasy points in six starts (37.50, 32.20, 33.70, 32.00, 35.90, and 31.12), showing he could still deliver big numbers when the game script allowed it. His best passing day came in Week 15 with a 290-yard, two-touchdown performance; his lone 300-yard outing of the season came in one other matchup, a reminder that the talent and efficiency were still there, even if the volume had been deliberately dialed back.

In 2025, Hurts had a sharp decline in his rushing opportunity (105/421/8 – 4.0 yards per carry). He comes off a career top in passing touchdowns (25) while continuing to minimize the damage in interceptions (6). His completion rate (64.8%) and yards per pass attempt (7.1) were four-year lows. Hurts opened last year with seven competitive fantasy days (25.80, 32.30, 20.70, 22.30, 24.45, 28.30, and 27.15) over his first eight starts.

NFL defenses seem to catch up with the Eagles’ offense over the last half of the year, leading to only two competitive outcomes (322 combined yards with three touchdowns and 214 combined yards and three scores). He passed for fewer than 190 yards in seven of his final 10 matchups (including the playoffs). Despite his fade, Hurts still finished ninth in quarterback fantasy points (342.30) while sitting out Week 18.

The Eagles want to control the clock with the run and play top-tier defense, which suggests some pullback in his fantasy value. I sense 4,000 combined yards and 30 touchdowns could be a lot to ask, based on the direction of Philadelphia’s offense. For me, Hurts is overpriced in 2026.
