Theo Johnson — 2026 Fantasy Outlook

New York used a fourth-round pick in the 2024 draft to bring in Johnson, a tight end who offers favorable speed (4.57 in the 40) and enough physicality to hold his own as a blocker. His areas that need work are just as clear. He'll need to develop a nastier run-blocking edge to earn every-down trust, and his production after the catch has been underwhelming coming out of college.

Johnson spent four seasons at Penn State, finishing with 77 receptions for 938 yards and 12 touchdowns. His most productive year came in 2023 with 34 catches for 341 yards and seven scores, while the previous season hinted at his downfield upside with an average of 16.4 yards per reception.

The Giants handed him starting snaps for the first 12 games of his rookie season, and he made modest use of the opportunity (29 catches for 331 yards and one touchdown on 43 targets). He cleared double-digit fantasy points just twice (3/51/1 and 5/54) before a foot injury shut him down with five games remaining on the schedule.

Johnson developed into a viable fantasy tight end option in 2025, leading to career highs in catches (45), receiving yards (528), and touchdowns (5) on 74 targets. His season ended with two missed games (illness), coming after a zero-catch outcome in Week 16. Johnson played well in four contests (6/33/2, 3/66/1, 3/27/1, and 7/75). He had three catches or fewer in 12 of his 15 starts. New York had him on the field for 75.8% of New York’s plays.
