Michael Wilson — 2026 Fantasy Outlook
Analysis by Shawn Childs, from his 2026 guide — his words, unedited.
The case
- · The fantasy market watched Wilson turn into the player the Cardinals thought Marvin Harrison would develop into late last season.
- · He kicked in the fantasy door off the waiver wire across his final eight starts (15/185, 10/118, 3/36, 11/142/2, 5/54/1, 2/52/1, 5/89/1, and 6/99/1), thanks to averaging 11 targets a game.
- · Arizona led the NFL in pass attempts (649) last year.
- · Over his first eight matchups, the Cardinals gave him only 31 targets (3.9 per game), leading to only 18 catches for 197 yards and one score.
Question marks
- · Has Wilson jumped Marvin Harrison in the wide receiver target rotation?
- · Will a new coaching staff and more competitive games lead to a sharp decline in pass attempts for Arizona?
- · If/when the Cardinals turn to Carson Beck, how does that affect Arizona’s passing game and receiving production?
- · Does a new stud running back improve this scoring chances for the Cardinals this year?
Shawn's conclusion
Trust was a big part of Wilson's success last year after Marvin Harrison went down with an injury. Jacoby Brissett allowed their new rising receiving to make plays in jump ball situations, along with feeding him on many passes when open.
More on Wilson
Arizona invested a third-round pick in Wilson in the 2023 NFL Draft, betting on a receiver with an intriguing physical profile (6'2" and 215 pounds) who wins more through strength and physicality than speed. His 4.58 40-yard dash reflects a player who relies on leverage and effort over athleticism. His concerns coming in were a thin college resume and some vulnerability against press coverage, but he brings a workable route-running floor and plays with consistent effort on every snap. His hands were perceived as average rather than a strength.
His college backstory adds important context. After a promising 2019 breakout at Stanford (56/672/5 on 84 targets), Wilson managed just 14 games over the following three seasons due to a pair of foot injuries, finishing that stretch with 64 catches, 911 yards, and five touchdowns on 95 targets. His standout moment in that span came against Washington in 2022, when he went off for six catches, 176 yards, and two scores.
His rookie season in Arizona was an encouraging start. Over 13 games (missing four weeks with neck and shoulder issues), Wilson hauled in 38 of 58 targets for 565 yards and three touchdowns while playing 62.6% of offensive snaps. He averaged a healthy 14.9 yards per catch and recorded seven receptions of 20 or more yards, showing up as a legit big-play threat. His three best fantasy performances (7/76/2, 4/35/1, and 6/95) demonstrated his ceiling when targeted with purpose.
In 2024, Arizona deployed Wilson closer to the line of scrimmage, and it showed in his numbers — his yards per catch dipped from 14.9 to 11.7 while his catch (47) and target (71) totals both ticked up. Fantasy production barely moved, settling at 125.50 PPR points. He delivered six mid-range performances (8/64, 5/78, 2/21/1, 5/31/1, 5/55, and 2/57/1), but was held to three catches or fewer in 11 of his appearances, a consistency problem that capped his weekly value. A hamstring injury cut his season short in Week 18.
Last year, Wilson only had 22 catches for 231 yards and one score on 38 targets across nine games. He flashed in Week 11 (15/185 on 18 targets), followed by a WR1 down the stretch due to injuries to Marvin Harrison. His season ended with starting fantasy stats in six (10/118, 11/142/2, 5/54/1, 2/52/1, 5/89/1, and 5/99/1) over his final seven starts. Wilson averaged 11 targets over his final eight games, lifting him to 11th in PPR wide receiver scoring (220.60) and setting career highs in catches (78), receiving yards (1,006), touchdowns (7), and targets (126).
Despite his progression, his 2026 ADP (75) in the National Fantasy Football Championship ranks him 38th at wide receiver, which requires about 170.00 PPR fantasy points to payoff. I believe in his 60/800/5 floor, but 100 fewer passing attempts would lead to a 15% drop in his fantasy opportunity.
