The case
- · Reed’s 2025 season was setup to fail after suffering Jones’ fracture in his left foot in August, which he intended to play through.

Shawn's conclusion
The outlines of Green Bay's receiving corps seem pretty straightforward in 2025. They want to get Tucker Kraft involved as much as possible, Christian Watson is the explosive deep threat, and Matthew Golden develops into a combination vertical option with playmaking value close to the line of scrimmage. This leaves Reed as the chain mover who needs increased targets to pay his fantasy bills.

Reed is at his best when he can win with straight-line speed and a clean release off the line. He gets off the snap quickly and shows a good feel for his routes when given room to operate. His trouble comes against tight press coverage, where Reed has to create separation through change-of-direction moves, an area that exposes his limitations. He also doesn't have the elite top-end speed to consistently beat quality cornerbacks on deep routes down the sideline.
Across four seasons at Michigan State, Reed caught 203 of 333 targets for 2,919 yards and 27 touchdowns. His peak came in 2021 with 59 catches for 1,026 yards and 10 scores, followed by a notable step back in 2022 (55 catches, 636 yards, and five touchdowns).
As a rookie in Green Bay, Reed led the team in catches (64), receiving yards (793), and touchdowns (10), hauling in 68.0% of his 94 targets while adding 11 carries for 119 yards and two scores out of the backfield. His best stretch came late in the year (24 catches for 318 yards and four touchdowns on 34 touches from Week 14 through Week 18), despite missing one game with toe and chest issues. He finished 25th among wide receivers in PPR scoring at 217.40 points, with two outings topping 20.00 fantasy points (8/65/1 and 6/89/2).
His 2024 season opened with a bang (four catches for 169 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1 on just six targets and one carry). Reed had two more strong performances over his next eight games (7/141/1 and 5/113), along with three other playable outings (4/69, 4/97, and 6/28/1). After his bye (Week 10), both his production and his opportunity fell off sharply (just 23 catches for 336 yards and three touchdowns across nine games), averaging 8.29 fantasy points per game and making him a liability as a weekly fantasy starter. Reed finished 29th in PPR scoring (198.50).
Entering the regular season, Reed was battling a foot issue (Jones fracture). After a playable game in Week 1 (3/45/1) last year, Reed suffered a broken collarbone in Week 2, leading to surgery (his foot as well) and 10 missed games. He caught 20 of his final 24 targets across five full games, leading to 247 combined yards and one touchdown. The Packers gave him WR3 snaps late in the season.
