Brian Robinson — 2026 Fantasy Outlook
Analysis by Shawn Childs, from his 2026 guide — his words, unedited.
Robinson's 2022 season with Washington got off to the worst possible start; a gunshot injury sidelined him for the first four games. Once healthy, it didn't take long for the Commanders to recognize what they had. By his second game back, he was shouldering a significant portion of the workload, and over his final 11 weeks, Robinson delivered (196/775/2, plus nine catches for 60 yards and a score). He strung together three consecutive 100-yard rushing performances from Week 12 through Week 14 before a knee injury ended his season in Week 18.
His 2023 season brought a modest dip in rushing volume (178/733/5), but an unexpected development in the passing game more than compensated for it. Robinson emerged as a better-than-expected receiving threat, catching 36 of 43 targets for 368 yards and four touchdowns, averaging an impressive 10.2 yards per catch with eight explosive plays of 20 or more yards. A late-season hamstring issue cost him two games, but his peak fantasy outputs were eye-catching — 28.90 points in Week 2, 27.70 in Week 10, and 20.20 in Week 11. The Commanders fed him 20 or more touches in four matchups, signaling real trust in his role.
Robinson’s third Washington season told a more fragmented story. Knee, hamstring, and ankle injuries combined to cost him three games, yet he made the most of his early opportunities — scoring six touchdowns over his first six contests and posting two 100-yard rushing efforts (17/133 and 21/101/1). The passing game involvement that had blossomed the year before essentially vanished after Week 1 (3/49), as the Commanders gave him minimal catching opportunities the rest of the way (21/132, averaging just 6.3 yards per catch).
A strong Week 13 outing (16/103/1) offered a brief reminder of his ceiling, but his final seven games were a disappointment (85 carries for just 288 yards and two scores), at a worrying 3.4 yards per carry, supplemented by 12 catches for 76 yards. Robinson wrapped up the season ranked 29th among running backs in PPR scoring with 161.80 points, a finish that reflected both his flashes of brilliance and the inconsistency that has defined his career.
Before Week 1 of the 2025 season, the Commanders shipped Robinson to the 49ers, where he had a sharp decline in his opportunity (425 combined yards with two touchdowns and eight catches on 100 touches). His only playable fantasy value came in Week 9 (11.30) and Week 10 (11.50).
