Tucker Kraft — 2026 Fantasy Outlook
Analysis by Shawn Childs, from his 2026 guide — his words, unedited.
The case
- · Kraft had right ACL knee surgery last November, giving him nine and a half weeks of recovery time to be ready for Week 1.
- · He was off to a phenomenal start over his first seven games (30/469/1) last season, highlighted by two impact showings (6/124/1 and 7/143/1).
- · His yards per catch have risen in back-to-back seasons (11.5, 14.1, and 15.3).
- · The Packers expect him to play in Week 1.
Question marks
- · Players coming off significant knee injury tend to underperform expectations the following year.
- · Kraft could see fewer snaps and targets in September, putting him behind the pace of the best tight options in 2026.
- · Jordan Love had yet to develop into a top-tier, impact quarterback despite grading well in yards per pass attempt (8.0 and 7.7) over the past two years.
Shawn's conclusion
As much as I like the direction of Kraft up the tight end rankings and potential WR1 opportunity in the Packers’ offense, I plan on fading him this year unless he slides a round or two behind his ADP. I took a neutral approach to his early projections, putting him in a 50/50 situation to beat or underproduce my outlook.
More on Kraft
When the Packers selected Kraft in the third round in 2023, the pick signaled something about their offensive identity. Green Bay wants to run the football, control the short areas of the field, and deploy a quick passing game, and having two capable tight ends on the roster gives them the personnel to do exactly that.
Kraft came out of South Dakota State as an experienced receiving tight end, but an ankle injury cost him time in 2022. He brings three-down utility, sneaky athleticism, and a well-rounded skill set as both a blocker and pass catcher, areas that should only develop further as he gains NFL experience. His final two seasons at South Dakota State produced 92 catches for 1,228 yards and nine touchdowns, headlined by a 65-catch, 780-yard, six-touchdown junior year that included two standout games (10/124/1 and 9/123).
Green Bay featured Kraft on 59.3% of their offensive snaps in 2023 as the TE1, and he finished with similar production to Luke Musgrave (31 catches for 355 yards and two touchdowns on 40 targets), compared to Musgrave's 34/352/1. Much of his output came late in the year, with 26 of his 31 catches and both touchdowns arriving from Week 12 onward. He strung together four straight double-digit fantasy performances to close the season (4/64, 4/57/1, 4/60, and 6/48).
2024 opened with Kraft seeing over 80% of Green Bay's snaps through their first three games, but his production was minimal (2/37, 2/16, and 2/24). When Musgrave went down with an injury in Week 4, Kraft stepped into a larger role and made the most of it, delivering fantasy-relevant outings in four of his next five games (6/53/1, 4/88/2, 3/33/1, and 3/78/1).
The Packers barely looked his way over the following three weeks (4/36, 0/0, and 2/26/1 on nine combined targets). Over his final eight games, Kraft had 27 catches for 357 yards and two touchdowns on 35 targets, highlighted by two showings (6/78 and 3/41/1).
Last year, Kraft was a late mover up draft boards in the high-stakes market, and he rewarded his supporters with a great start to the year over his first seven games (30/469/6 on 41 targets). His success rang the special player bell in Week 2 (6/124/1) and Week 8 (7/143/2). Unfortunately, Kraft left his next game with a torn ACL in his right knee. He was on pace to catch 68 passes for 1,039 yards and 13 touchdowns.
In his brief career with the Packers, Kraft has gained 20 yards or more on 22 of his 113 catches (19.5%), highlighted by his success in yards per catch in 2024 (14.1) and 2025 (15.3). In essence, his gains fell in the realm of a top-tier wide receiver.
Players coming off significant injuries tend to let the fantasy market down the following season. Kraft brings an active, play-making role to the Packers’ passing attack, suggesting that he could lead the team in catches. Romeo Doubs led Green Bay in catches (55) last season, but no other receiver had more than 36 catches. With six targets a game (average 5.5 in 2025), Kraft would easily catch 68 passes for 800 yards with a career-high in touchdowns (7 in 2024), which more than fills his ADP bucket in fantasy points. With no negative injury news and success on the field, he should prove to be a value at tight end in 2026.
