How the Live Draft Assistant works
Three ways to use it, and you can switch between them mid-draft. Pick the one that matches your league — or skip all of it and use manual mode, which needs no setup and works everywhere.
If sync ever breaks, your draft doesn't
Automatic sync is a convenience layer on top of manual entry — never a dependency. If a draft room can't be read, we say so plainly and you keep going by tapping picks: the board, the recommendations, the reasoning and undo all work exactly the same. And when a read isn't certain, we refuse it rather than guess — one wrong pick would quietly shift every pick after it.
The three ways to use it
Manual
Any platform. Nothing to install.You tap each pick as it happens. Two taps, built for a thumb.
Zero setup. Works on ESPN, Yahoo, Sleeper, NFL.com, CBS, ESPN app, a league in someone's kitchen — anything.
Sleeper sync
Sleeper leagues. No extension needed.Paste your Sleeper username or draft link; picks appear on their own.
About 15 seconds. Sleeper publishes draft data openly, so we read it directly — nothing to install.
Browser extension
ESPN, Yahoo, NFL.com, CBS — and Sleeper too.Keep your draft room in one tab and SportsHack in another; picks flow across by themselves.
One install, once. Chrome or Edge on a computer.
Short version: Sleeper syncs without the extension. ESPN, Yahoo, NFL.com, CBS need the extension for automatic sync. Every platform — including ones not listed — works in manual mode.
Install the extension
Chrome and Edge (same extension — Edge installs Chrome extensions). Firefox and Safari aren't supported yet.
The Chrome Web Store listing is still in review. Until it's approved you install it directly — it takes about a minute and works the same.
Download the extension (zip)- 1Download the zip using the button above — it's about 30 KB.
- 2Unzip it somewhere permanent. Don't move or delete the folder afterwards; Chrome loads the extension from it every time.
- 3Open a new tab and go to chrome://extensions
- 4Turn on Developer mode — the toggle is in the top-right corner.
- 5Click Load unpacked, choose the unzipped folder, and you're done. No settings, nothing to configure.
About that permission prompt: Chrome will say the extension can read data on your draft sites. That's the whole job: it reads the pick list on your screen and passes it to your own SportsHack tab. It never clicks, never types, never drafts, stores nothing, and sends nothing anywhere else.
Step by step, by platform
Sleeper
Syncs without the extension- 1Open the Live Draft Assistant and set your league up top: teams, scoring, roster, your draft slot.
- 2In the Sleeper box, type your Sleeper username (or paste the draft link) and press Connect.
- 3Pick your league from the list. We read its scoring and team count and set them for you — check the note we show; if your league is unusual we say exactly how it differs.
- 4Press Start tracking my draft. That's it — leave the tab open.
You'll know it's working when: The status line reads "Synced with Sleeper" and picks appear on their own within about five seconds of happening.
- Worth knowing: Before the draft starts, it says "Waiting for the draft to start" — that's correct, not broken.
- Worth knowing: Sleeper is the one platform that needs no extension at all. If you have the extension installed and you open a Sleeper draft room, it just hands the draft over to this same sync — same result, fewer moving parts.
ESPN

- 3Open your ESPN draft room in another tab of the same window.
- 4Draft normally in ESPN. Glance at the SportsHack tab when you're on the clock.
You'll know it's working when: The SportsHack tab shows "ESPN via extension: Synced" and picks fill in as they're made.
- Worth knowing: ESPN has no public draft feed, so the extension reads the pick list on screen. That means a site redesign can break it mid-season — when it does, we say so out loud and you keep going by tapping picks.
- Worth knowing: The ESPN mobile app can't be read by a browser extension. On a phone, use manual mode — it was built for exactly that.
Yahoo

- 3Open your Yahoo draft room in another tab of the same window.
- 4Draft normally in Yahoo.
You'll know it's working when: The SportsHack tab shows "YAHOO via extension: Synced" and picks appear as they happen.
- Worth knowing: Yahoo's draft room doesn't exist until roughly 30 minutes before your draft — and neither does the draft order. Before then SportsHack will say it's waiting. That's Yahoo's schedule, not a problem on our end; don't spend draft morning reinstalling.
- Worth knowing: If you're testing the day before, test with manual mode — there's no room for the extension to read yet.
NFL.com

- 4Draft normally in NFL.com. Check the SportsHack tab when you're on the clock.
You'll know it's working when: The SportsHack tab shows "NFL via extension: Synced" and picks appear as they happen.
- Worth knowing: Like ESPN, this is read from the screen rather than a feed — if NFL.com changes its layout we'll tell you and fall back to manual instead of guessing at picks.
CBS

- 4Draft normally in CBS. Check the SportsHack tab when you're on the clock.
You'll know it's working when: The SportsHack tab shows "CBS via extension: Synced" and picks appear as they happen.
- Worth knowing: CBS league sites live on several different addresses (your league's own subdomain). The extension covers cbssports.com addresses; if your room is somewhere unusual and nothing syncs, use manual mode and tell us the address so we can add it.
When something goes sideways
It says sync is lagging, or it can't read my draft room.
Keep drafting — tap each pick into SportsHack by hand and everything else keeps working exactly as before: the board, the recommendations, the reasoning, undo. Sync catches itself up if it recovers. A read that isn't certain is always refused rather than guessed at, because a wrong pick quietly shifts every pick after it.
A pick came through as a player you don't have.
Kickers, defenses and camp bodies aren't in the pool. We stop there, name the pick, and ask you to mark it — we never skip it silently, because skipping one pick misattributes every pick after it.
Both tabs need to be open?
Yes — your draft room in one tab, SportsHack in another, in the same browser window. The extension passes picks between your own two tabs and nowhere else.
Do I need to change any browser settings?
No. Chrome will ask you to allow the extension on your draft sites when you install it — that's the only prompt. If you block third-party cookies (or use Incognito), keep SportsHack in a normal tab where you're signed in, and it's fine.
I'm drafting from my phone.
Use manual mode. Browser extensions don't exist on phone browsers, on any platform — so manual is the phone answer, and it's the mode we designed the screen around: big targets, one-tap undo, search at the top.
My draft is on a platform you don't list.
Manual mode works everywhere, because it integrates with nothing. You are the sync.
Can it draft for me, or auto-pick?
No, by design. It reads and advises; you make every pick. Nothing we ship types into your draft room.
