The 2025 totals use the PPR scoring source Shawn used for this review. League settings, especially fumble and bonus scoring, can change a total.
Five running backs scored more than 30 PPR points in Week 1: Derrick Henry, D’Andre Swift, Jahmyr Gibbs, Ashton Jeanty and Bijan Robinson. That is a strong opening result for the top end of the running back pool.
There were 39 running back scores above 30 points across all 18 weeks last season. Thirty came from backs who finished the year ranked inside the top 16 at the position.

What Week 1 tells us
Last season averaged 2.17 running back scores above 30 points per week. Week 1 produced five, more than twice that rate. It was a big week for backs with strong yardage, receiving work or multiple touchdowns.
The season-long finish still matters. About 77% of last year’s 30-point scores came from backs who ended the year inside the top 16. One week does not guarantee a repeat, but the best backs supplied most of the ceiling games last season.
